For a global company like Aesculap it is important to recruit experienced employees in many areas - regardless of their geographical origin. Dr. Jens von Lackum, Executive Board Member for Marketing, Sales and Human Resources at Aesculap, is the best example: “I grew up in the Ruhr area and lived and worked as a lawyer in Düsseldorf and London. From there I moved to Tuttlingen, which was a profound change. Suddenly from a world metropolis to the Swabian province...”. The fact that Aesculap is not located in a major city, however, presents a major challenge in the company’s striving to be perceived as a potential employer.
An initiative and innovative form of HR marketing is the implementation of a virtual career fair based on the ubivent software. The platform was designed on the basis of the Aesculapium in Tuttlingen, cradle and headquarters of the Aesculap Academy. Immediately after entering the virtual academy, Dr. Jens von Lackum welcomed the participants. In the virtual auditorium, videos on career opportunities in various areas of the company were shown. After their presentation, the lecturers were available directly for the participants’ questions. If one of the participants already had clear ideas on his professional career, specific information could be obtained directly at the relevant booths. Upcoming individual questions could be clarified at each booth with contact persons from HR and the respective specialist departments.
In particular, the positive feedback from the participants shows that the provision of infor-mation at the occasion of an online fair is an effi cient solution for everyone. Visitors appreciated the possibility to get to know the company in a modern and innovative way. “You really get the desire to work for your company,” is one feedback that all participants can agree on.
